cardinal flower seed

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I have a lot of seed pods forming. Can anyone tell me if they are ripe when cinnamon colored or if they need to turn black. I hope this isn't another dumb question with no response.

I believe they are ripe when light brown/cinnamon colored. :)

Thanks. I can see most are ready.

Yes, when the seed capsules are brown. Watch for the capsules to begin cracking open at their tips. If you wait much longer, the seeds will probably get lost.

Well, I may offer some of the seeds here on DG. I had an excellent bloom this year. They grew in mostly shade and along a little pond.
