SOLVED: What is my Purple Cattail\'s real name?

Orlando, FL(Zone 10a)

I call this a "purple cattail" - a name I made up because I have no idea what the plant is called. The long, slender leaves are purplish and when the pictured flower goes to seed it dries and fades out and has lots of tiny little black seeds about the size of the poppy seeds that you get on a bagel. There is one little seed in each compartment of the flower head. The plant may flower at any size and may be from less than a foot tall to over 5 ft. tall. I just snip the seed heads when the plant expires and leave them in the garden and they come back every year. Growing in Orlando, FL with no special care at all.
