SOLVED: Perennial plant ID zone 7

Alexandria, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi all, we have this plant that firstborn sprouted up last spring. It was only in one spot and I would just pull it whenever it sprouted up again. This year it's spread and there aren't quite a few. New growth isn't more red tinged then the green seems to deepen. Fine spikes on the stems, leaves feel rough. We just removed some dead shrubs from this area last year. Planning to put down some weed barrier until we can get to planting it for now, but very curious about this plant.

Blackberry. I also have tons of this sprouting everywhere

Can get very invasive. Dig it out really well. Dig down and see if you can find where it is growing from. It is a lot of work, but will help control it. There are herbicides that will work, too.

Thank you, thank you!
