Moved us over, we came from here
DECEMBER Challenges/Projects/Organiz8ng ourselves and sharing our love of sewing, all welcome..
Moved us over, we came from here
Was a busy week, had my sale and did very well, even after the sale Iíve had orders, ended up selling 2 Victorian Santa throws that were meant for Christmas gifts so Iím now on a mission to make 2 more.,managed to get the embroidery blocks done, now to put them together.
Wrapped 2 quilts for my sons, felt like I was losing a part of me, cherished the 2 I wrapped, oh well, can always make more after all, 2019 soon to start which means a new year to make many more, in fact Iíve 2 started that I can finish.
Girls are coming tonight if the weather clears up..some making the nomes, easy to do manyin one evening.,Iíve everything cut so they just need to sew..Iíve about 20 made, like putting a take home item on the Christmas table seatings.made extra just in case.
Would like to do the Christmas stocking quilt if Iíve time, canít forget Iíve got moms cross stitch quilt on the frame to finish, kind of loss interest in it but better give myself a talking to, need it done for her for Christmas..her gift, so hard to buy for someone her age is the backing, batting and quilt8ng is my gift to her plus a few odds and sods.
Other than what Iím up to Iím ready for santa lol
How are all you doing?
Seems like you always have multiple projects going Betty. Those gnomes are so cute.
You should see my craft room today, finishing craft projects, embroidery machine going, Iím go8ng from machine to machine.
Would love to get back to sewing. We've run into a bit of a snag and need to do major repair. So the money pit starts.
Sorry to hear that Karen..not what you were hoping for to start your new adventure.
Not totally unexpected. Seller was a mean SOB. Closing took forever because he was arguing every point, glad he was in separate room. It was a divorce situation and was determined to do her out of everything he could. We could sue and would win but he would refuse to pay.
Sorry to hear that Karen. What was damaged? Something you were not aware of?
Betty - those Christmas stocking quilts are adorable! I saw some of those gnomes in a craft shop and thought "I can do that" so I will 😁
Hooray - my friend Joan, after 6 weeks, is finally home from the hospital! She's very tired and weak, but at least she doesn't have to put up with hospital ward noise! She has to have bloodwork 2x a week, and takes chemotherapy for autoimmune disease, so travels 1/2 hour to the next town for that.
Water seepage which was hidden during the showing. Under the covering is mold. Big problem for one great grand who is highly allergic. Going to cost a lot to make it go away for good.
Lordy that is a major problem Karen, did you have someone go through the house prior to sale, if so would they be responsible for not catching it? Regardless who is responsible, has to be fixed right?
Susan, great news about your friend.
We had an inspection and he was very thorough. He would have had to do what we did and take down a temporary wall to see it. Neighbor told us seller knew about it and fought it all the time. We are on gentle slope and water as you know runs down hill. Seller was obligated to inform us and hid it instead. There were dehumidifiers in the basement but not running when we were here. Inspector said it looked like problem had been handled as there was no water then. Seller put up paneling over plastic over damp rotted, moldy paneling, to hide it. And yes we do have to fix it as Brody has extreme allergies and asthma. When we were looking, we walked away from a couple places because of mold smell. That's another thing he had covered up the smell.
Wow that is terrible..tell me about water running down hill..
Was in town at 7:30, got what I wanted done, ohh even bought me a few gifts..
While waupiting at the counter I managed to find a quilt book that has a nice piece in it so it came home with me.
Bought a stuffed turkey roll, itís in the oven so Iíll finish my timmies coffee and a donut, shouldnít have bought 1/2 doz. lol then head downstairs..want binding on a throw done today and another throw put together..
Bought what I needed for Melanieís quilt ladder, Lordy she gets a lot of goodies at Christmas time lol hoping to cut edges of the 6ípieces, cut the rungs and maybe do some drilling so this week I can get it all stained..
Always something to do,
Just glad Iím up to it, yesterday was a couch day.
Got an email today that Cookstown, about 70 miles away is having a Christmas embroidery class, doing 2 projects, attaching photos..Iíll call when they open at 11 to see if there is room for me saturday
Oops forgot the photos
Had a few Santa embroidered blocks done, thought I might make a few throw pillows for the girls that come sewing as Iím really all caught up and there is 2 weeks left till Christmas, donít want to be bored so bought 2 pillows this morning from Walmart, Iíll cut them up make make forms for the pillows
Hi everyone!! hugs to all.
Busy day today, visiting sick friends, etc
Love the lace angel. I have several tatted and crocheted snowflakes my mom made. They are so pretty on the tree.
Am sure Susan your friends appreciate the visit..
Iíve never embroidered one so think it would be interesting to do,there is always the chance though of bad weather, guess one has to take a chance, rise that happens is Iím out class fees.
Was up at 5, got load of laundry done, floors washed, breakfast, a tad of sewing..now itís time to make myself presentable and get back in craft room, want to finish that 2nd throw then maybe make a pillow.would like to make one for each of the girls that sew here..they should be simple enough seeing as Iíll use embroidered Santa insert..
On a mission, best I get off the couch before it temps me to be a couch potato today
Called cookstown fabric shop and yes they have an open8ng for Saturday class, here is hoping weather cooperates.
Productive day today, girls were here sewing, looked at those orphan size Victorian Santa blocks and decided to make pillows with them..June went home with one, six others will get pillow inserts tomorrow and voila more Christmas gift that donít have anywhere to go lol
Am sure ice a place for 3, always give the girls who come thursday nights one..always like extra gifts should someone drop in over the holidays
How about you all, sewing up a storm?
Going to quilting tomorrow.
I went to the Dr. in San Antonio, appointment was at 1, I got there early, to be told, so sorry, the Dr. had an emergency, he would be back about 4. I told her that won't work, as it gets dark about 5:30, I will call back later to reschedule. She almost insisted that I wait the 3 hours, I got up and walked out. I told her I had to drive 3 hours back home, and it was very inconvenient for me to wait till then. I was not a happy camper.
Yikes, donít blame you at all, know an emergency is an emergency but she should have understood and booked another atyour convenience.
Going to have my bath, coffee and crumpets then start my day..
Todayís goal, finish the 6 pillows so I can from tomorrow on focus on quilting moms quilt..need it done FPS mom might come up early next week to see everyone for Christmas.
Oh UGH Linda, I would have been totally POed. I'm dreading having to find new Dr.s here in TN. Will need to do that right after the first of the year. I called one, they told me I had to call former Dr. for records before they would make an appt. Called MI Dr. they said no I have to go to Dr.s office here and sign a release then new Dr. can send for records. Siiiigh, it's going to be fun.

All you should have to do is go to new Dr. Tell them you are transferring to their office. They will have you sign a release form for them to send to old Dr. Then your old Dr. should fax or mail them.
LK - wasn't there another Dr you could have seen in the same office? A wait of 3 hours, plus 6 hours (drive there & back) is a 9 hour day! Holy cow - can't imagine that! And how long would you see the Dr for the appointment - maybe 15 minutes? I find that very wrong. They don't seem to respect your time.
I wish it were a multi Dr office. I asked to see his assistant and was told no, you have to see the Dr.
Frustrating to say the least for both of you.. guess LINDA play there are no specialist close by to your town.. Karen so hope you can find a physician close by without too much trouble.
When I called for appt. secretary told me late January but because Iím on home visit it would be sooner, so far he hasnít called..Iíll wait till Friday then call again and tell her I have to have meds renewed even if I donít get to see him soon.
Productive couple of days, used up those odd size or duplicate Victorian Santa blocks by making pillows..2 already found homes. Lol
Just found a couple more, not sure Iíll make pillows before Christmas with them..perhaps one of the girls coming tonight might want to make one.
I found a bag with co-ordinating fabric and cut to size as per class list for Saturday..bad weather for tomorrow but call8ng for nice weather Saturday so here is hoping I can travel to Cookstown.
I also got melís Quilt ladder cut and stained..Iíll give the pieces a few days to dry then give them final flecto finish, once dry I only have to glue the rings in.
So all and all Iíve done well this week..far more pressie than people I have to give to as Iíve already filled that list..just have a case of w8ne to buy for socks..I keep saying Iím finished but seems I keep finding more to do.
I wish we had specialty Drs here. All are at least 160 miles away. Family Drs are all we have here.
Yikes, LK - that's a long way to go for a specialist! We're "only" 73 miles to Calgary where we could see a specialist, and I thought that was a long distance. Our family Dr is in the next town, 1/2 hour drive away. That's good
Barrie and orillia are only 1/2hr away and Toronto 1 1/2 so guess we are lucky..my doc has me on a home visit list so I donít have to go anywhere.
Decided I will work on moms cross stitch quilt on the frame, got to get it done, that is my today goal, if I donít get it all done at least a good portion of it.
yes, Betty - you are fortunate. I had a chiropractor visit me at home once. It was so nice, and that was many years ago (about 40), so don't expect one would do so now.
Busy last few days, got moms quilt done, tomorrow Iíll sew on border then Iíll have some hand sewing to do..
Finished Melís quilt ladder
Went to my embroidery class, nice learning what the machine can do
Did 2 projects today
. Angel ornament
. 12x12 inch Applique 8n the hoop snowman pillow
Iíll make another pillow and do it in brighter colours, find mine too light but once again I used scraps
Beautiful projects. I love the color's of the pillow.
Lordy, got to stop looking for test blocks or orphan blocks because Iíve amassed mega pillows lol. So far Iíve made ten, given some away and still have a few..yesterday while girls were working on their pieces and chatting I did the 2 pillows on the right. This morn8ng while cleaning I found 5 little snowflake squares, because the embroidery is line embroidery it doesnít show up in colour as much, lesson learned but it did become a pillow and I put it on spare bedroom bed, good enough for me..wonder why we keep the misfits vs the projects well done?hmmm
So now itís either just lay on couch watching hallmark movies or head downstairs and tidy up and watch hallmark movies while I work..problem with that is I keep finding things I could make into something and right now I donít need more finished projects or Iím go8ng to have to stop passerbys and give them a gift. Lol
How about you all, busy lives, sewing? No sewing? Itís ok to be where you are , just remember to take a bit of time for yourselves.
After spending morning on the couch I said enough is enough, canít lay that l9ng..remembered at a craft show Melanie picked up a plastic garbage bag holder so made her one, now Iím thinking for all the time they take should make a few more lol
So on the couch I am, feet up trying to decide what I do..nothing or something?
