(Linda Kay) Del Rio, TX(Zone 9a)

Most of the ladies are working on personal quilts, as we have plenty for the kids home. I will get photos Wednesday when I go.
I sure hope you are feeling better soon Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sick with the normal extreme vomitt8ng, just pain and we all know what that is like, just keep plugging.

Always anxious to see what others are working on LIndakay.
You br8ng your machine to class right.

I just went through box of leftover periwinkle fabric and cut up in 2 1/2Ē strips to make a border then an off white border and the top is ready for frame.

Started a monster truck Applique design for a reader but not understanding the process , once Iíve got it on the frame Iíll play with the Applique.

When looking for my backing I found a panel I painted for a morning glory quilt..had done extra..not quite finished but I should finish it and work it into a project.

Have you all put your swap blocks from all the swaps into a project?? Thinking Iíve 3, I could get done..we should make a commitment to finishing one.

Wind is up, few drops of rain grr

(Linda Kay) Del Rio, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes, I carry my machine to quilting. I got my blocks out this morning. Don't know if I will make a few more to make a throw, or make pillows with them. Decisions...

Victoria Harbour, ON

I was thinking about taking out the birdhouse blocks and do a large throw, not sure what I will do with it but should finish it..as for orphan blocks doubt Iíll do pillows, with doing 17 pillows at Christmas and needing 6 reading pillows for this Christmas Iíll be pillowed out lol

Almost finished the monster truck pillow front, was at wording being 1/2 done and I just couldnít take pain so had bath, meds and bed since 5:00

Did get periwinkle done and wanted it on the frame, Ziggy had other ideas.

Betty - hope you can come to the Canadian west........... sometime.

I'd better get busy on yet another prayer shawl. The church ladies gave me a lot of wool and it's all different types/thicknesses/colours & amounts, from fingering to worsted. I can join some different colours together - some beautiful combinations.

(Linda Kay) Del Rio, TX(Zone 9a)

I love that tractor.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Weather doesnít know what to do, between freezing rain and rain
Waiting for doc then homeward bound..Iíve such a pretty room lol

Susan, they know if they give you the wool you will work endlessly making prayer shawls..kudos to you..

Tractor is quit time consuming, didnít have nice and bright kid fabrics so I have to go in search of some..likely LIndakay Iíll find another design, donít want all to be same.

As I donít expect to be too long told the girls just to go in and make themselves at home, perhaps with ice on the roads they wonít come.

Anxious to start quilting

What did the Dr say?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Said all his tests came back that Iím a fine specimen of health..no need for his services, now have to take a further route..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to show you Pats ďwinter birdsĒ project finished

Have the wording on 3rd pillow project done, Friday or Saturday Iíll head to Barrie in search of kids fabric so I can finish them

That is beautiful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

She did a great job..I also enjoyed making this one as well, my godson PAUL says it looks lovely very hanging from the left ft at his cottage.. pat isnít sure where this one will go.

She wants me to finish winter solstice as she is interested in doing it as well.

Those are lovely, Betty! Pat did a great job 👍

Went to Drs today, re: Bob's tinnitis & his falling. Dr will see if they can find a specialist who will actually call Bob for an appointment, and it might be in Red Deer or Calgary.
As for my feet - got a prescription for custom made orthotics that I'll put in all my shoes. Our Senior's Benefits may pay for them - they're expensive - $300-$400. I may be covered under Bob's Senior Benefits (I get an "Allowance" because I'm not a senior yet, but am married to one), or it may be covered under my low-income medical plan. I'll have to find out, then make an appointment in Innisfail for measurement. Don't know how long before I can make an appointment, nor how long it takes to get custom orthodics made.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope Susan that Bob an get an appointment in near future and that you are covered for inserts.

Got everything done that needed to be done in line of housework so now I have a full day ahead, took a Tylenol 3 so the morning will be pain free I hope.

Got to look what threads I have that will match the periwinkle top and backing and start quilting.

How about you all?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Kraft dinner time lol

Might put another panel on for embroidery..Darlene wants one as do a dozen others lol

Howdy do!
My gosh you ladies, those quilts are gorgeous. You do such beautiful work! Absolutely gorgeous pieces. Thank you for sharing!

Betty, I'm just 18 miles from the border of British Columbia as the crow flies. I can actually see the southern end of Vancouver Island from where I live. Like you, I have traveled extensively throughout the US and quite a bit of Canada. I have good friends in Ontario, Kitchener to be exact and also Guelph and Waterloo. We had good friends in Victoria but alas they have both passed on now. Their son is still in their family home on Arbutus Drive and we do make trips to see him but it's so hard to be in that house and not see Enoch and Edna anymore.

Susan, I sent you a D-mail, please check your inbox. Thank you.

Well, I'm off to make bread so I'll catch up later.

Thank you again everyone for welcoming me into the group. I do appreciate you sharing your beautifully made things and I'll try to post a little more of a few pics of some of the things I've made. I'm no where in the class as you ladies but I sure like trying!

Blessings on all and may you each enjoy the day no matter what you're doing. It's another day on this beautiful globe and we can't waste a precious one.

Good morning sewists!
I thought I would share one of my projects, a wall hanging I did last year for a friend's birthday. It's a panel i cut into strips and put fabric strips between each panel strip in a pattern I found online. This was for a gal I grew up with overseas when we were kids. She is half Indonesian and half Japanese. She's stunning! She grew up to be a model and worked for Shisedo, Japan's biggest high end make-up line and was their cover girl for years. We still laugh because growing up we were rough and tumble girls who played flag football and baseball and here she turned into this stunning model. I quilted it with a fan pattern. I used a real fan as my pattern, one that I had from childhood.

Babs - got your d-mail. Thank you! I read it with great interest and will pass it on to my DH. That quilt is so lovely & impressive! I need to finish the quilt I promised myself I would, before Christmas. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I got caught up in making prayer shawls and didn't get it done. I gave myself a timeline & "stuff" distracted me lol
I got a lot more wool given to me & have more shawls to do. I'm almost finished another one now.
Must go clean up the kitchen - spent all day at shopping, x-ray of my foot, and bowling. Don't have x-ray results, but did well at bowling. I was really happy with the 2nd game - 193 (5 pin bowling), but by the 3rd game my heel was acting up.
Ah well - time to clean!

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)

Good morning ladies!
Thank you for the compliments. Yes indeed, I got the fabric panel and the other fabrics from Jordan Fabrics but mine didn't come in a kit. I bought 3 panels because I wanted to make one for myself and have another in case of need for a gift. The one thing I have to say when you make this, be sure to trim the top and bottom precisely so those bamboo leaves show properly. It's actually very easy to do. You're just sewing strips together. I actually watched Donna Jordan's tutorial and went along with her step by step. I encourage you to make it, it does turn out beautifully. The gal I gave it to took it into her work to show it off and said there wasn't a person at work who didn't like it.

I am including a photo of a table topper I made for Christmas time in 2016. It was my first so I was pretty unfamiliar with how to put it together. Don't quote me on this but I believe it's from a Riley Blake collection of fabrics. I could very well be mis-remembering (using a political phrase). Lol Also a quilt I made for another friend. This was made from the "Farmer's Daughter" collection by Moda. Just when I found a line of fabrics I really like they discontinued it. Bah!

Right now, while I'm still home-bound I am pretty much relegated to sewing kit projects. I can't get to the fabric store to select what I want and I despise trying to select fabrics online unless they are already in a kit so I know they will go together. Hopefully this will end soon and I'll be able to drive again. (keeping fingers XX'ed).

Babs, those are beautiful. Nice job.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love them both..so soft looking, so vintage looking. Some t8mes. Look at quilt kits and really once you go out looking for the fabric not really cheaper plus look at those coordinating fabrics..Lordy they are stunning.

was trying to figure out the strip one as Iíve so much Christmas fabric and smaller units of white, think it would make a nice throw or quilt.

Sorry to hear you are house bound, no fun for sure but arenít we thankful for our sewing.

Did three rows of quilting pattern on periwinkle then decided Iíd gd enough for the day, got another panel done for kids pillow.

Pj day at fabric store tomorrow, 40% off betwe3n 7-8 am
But if you say 40% off Canadian yardage like $20-$22 or same at Joannís off of $10.99 quite a difference

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)

Betty, not sure if you were directing that comment about the "strip one" to me but if you are and would like the pattern I'd be happy to share it with you. Let me know if that's what you were meaning. If not, then once again I've gone 'round the bend. Lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes was you Babs, love it, Iíd appreciate it.
Must put it on my list of to doís lol

(Linda Kay) Del Rio, TX(Zone 9a)

Betty, you need to cross the border. Good sales going on at joann's and hobby lobby.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)

Betty, Check the D-mail. I sent you a copy of that quilt pattern.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Iím on the run, Hummingbird Fabrics early morning sale if I get there at 7 lol 40% off.

Yes LIndakay I didnít do well at the Joannís New Yearís Day seeing regular quilt fabric wasnít on sale..canít go this weekend but will have my eye open for next sale.

(Linda Kay) Del Rio, TX(Zone 9a)
