SOLVED: Lovely Legume with a Reddish Bloom

Auburn, AL

Lovely Legume with a Reddish Bloom? They call me the Rhymenoceros!

Bloomed in August in 2018 in zone 7B, USA. The shrubs/bushes/plants varied from 1 to 2 meters tall.

It could be a Sesbania of some kind.

Thank you! I think that you are right.

Sesbania herbacea, I believe.

The USDA resource ( plants.usda.gov/plantguide/pdf/pg_sehe8.pdf ) is quite wrong about the length of the seed pods. The following site had clear pictures and a thorough description: bwwellsassociation.wordpress.com/2014/08/24/sesbania-herbacea-arrives-in-the-falls-lake-area/
