Please help me ID this lovely tree with classic maple shaped leaves. In early Spring it produces frilly puff balls which give way to the new leaves. It lives in a container on a midtown Manhattan patio.
SOLVED: Help With maple? tree ID
I don't disagree with nel5397, but it would be nice to see the seeds that form after the flowers, as well as the leaf morphology which should show up soon.
I've never seen Acer rubrum flowers that large and showy, but Red Maple occurs over an extended range with all kinds of variations - especially fall color.
Post some more images, please.
Thanks for comments. I think I agree and will keep track of each stage.
