Please ID this tree

SUNDERLAND, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

I live in the North East of England.
My holiday caravan site has a very large beautiful tree with abundant small hard green fruits on it. (1 inch long)
Can anyone ID this tree and add any information on iit.

Hazelnut???

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

Your closeup pics are a bit blurry. Snip or break off a section of branch, and photo the details of leaves, stems, and seeds while it is laying still on a table or pavement.

I think that is a European Beech - Fagus sylvatica - though, with the characteristic bristly husk that will split open to reveal the seeds inside.

Take a good picture of the trunk with closeup of the bark. That should at least settle what it is or is not. Beech will have a smooth gray trunk; most other species will not.
