I grew a lotus (nelumbo) plant from seeds, but when the flower bloomed, it doesnít look like a lotus you normally would envision (see pic). The seller said that lotus doesnít grow true from seeds and that the colors will not resemble the parent. I canít find anything on the internet about his claim, but does anyone have experience with propagating lotus from seed and having the flower look like a different species?

Lotus plant from seed, not true to form?
Not being true to the parent when grown from harvested seeds happens. Different genetic make up unlike clones which are true to their "parent". Exact copy.
