Wood duck?

Wells, ME

Hi, saw these ducks in Southern Maine this past week (bog in the woods, not saltwater).
The markings on the face remind me of a wood duck, but without the bright colors, so I wonder if it is immature female or male as I haven't found a matching picture yet in my books or online.

Immature females change markings apparently...I 'think' they are immature females....but now I want to go back and see the parents....

Yes, these are wood ducks. Females do not have the bright plumage of the males, and the males would be in breeding plumage until fall. These are immature males by the facial pattern.
