SOLVED: Please identify this vine

Summit, NJ

Can you tell me what vine is in the photo? it's growing in a swampy area, surrounded by phragmites, cattails, & virginia creeper.

The “fruit” is about the size of a large walnut, and has soft "spikes" jutting out of it. There is a hard, rather large "nut" or seed inside the fruit. The fruit is almost a translucent lime green.

The leaves look like maple leaves, but it is definitely a vine, not a tree.

Thank you,

I agree it’s Echinocystis lobata (wild cucumber)

Thank you both! That's exactly it. Never would have been able to identify it without your help. Best wishes
