What type of fly is this?

Washington, DC

We keep seeing these flies in our condo. Any idea what type they are?

About what size is it? The image is too blurry for a confident i.d. Both house flies and cluster flies will overwinter indoors; becoming active when weather becomes warm enough for them.

Itís pretty small. Like Iíd say half the size of a normal house fly. I think itís young. We found the issue. Flies had unfortunately infested our cats litter box. We threw out the entire litter box and bought a new one right away!

There are still one or two of them flying around the house. Iím trying to locate them!

Once a fly has reached the adult (winged) stage, it is not going to grow any more. Your fly has the appearance of a typical muscoid fly (the group that house flies and cluster flies belong to), and likely would be considered a nuisance pest rather than something capable of serious harm.
