Azalea of some type. Maybe a Gumpo type?

West Kingston, RI

Definitely looks like azalea but there is a weird type of rhododendron that looks more like an azalea too

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

Azalea is a common name for types of plants (usually smaller leaved) in the genus Rhododendron. There are evergreen forms and deciduous forms.

There are also members of the genus Rhododendron that have the common name Rhododendron. Most of these are evergreen, but there are probably a deciduous species or two also. Members of the genus hail from around the world.

These are closely related plants with different common names. The plant in question will be one of the small leaved evergreen Azalea types, which would have a scientific name of Rhododendron sp.
