I recognise the foliage, but am having trouble remembering what this plant is.
I photographed it the other day in a local private garden which was being trained up a post.
She said it has mauve flowers.

It reminds me of an Abelia. If it has a shrubby habit and tubular clusters of flowers you might look at various cultivars of Abelia. lovepat
Thank you, lovepat - but this plant is being trained up a post. The stem systems are more robust than abelia...
