Hi, I’m struggling to ID this tree that I noticed for the first time today less than 50 yards from my house!
About 30’ tall and the base of the trunk is about 30” wide.
It’s next to a boggy wetland area, my best guess is Alder Buckthorn. Any ideas?

Can you display a flower or fruit? A taxonomist can identify a plant species only with characters and not mere familiarity. Plants are classified on the basis of characters as the books are in a library.
