In autumn the tree bears flowers and fruit at the same time, making quite a display!

Nice photos, philomel! I searched around to find the meaning of unedo to add to Botanary, and found it means "I eat one" (or, more specifically "I eat only one") supposedly because the fruit isn't particularly tasty. But the source indicated you can make fairly good jam/preserves with them. Has anyone tried it, or sampled the fruit?

We were discussing this a bit on the fruit picture http://plantsdatabase.com/go/53834/

I intended to go and try one, but it's dark now, so tomorrow i'll experiment :)

I 'm planning to obtain this shrub that will not grow so big..Rubra should grow to 2m as I 've been told... How did the fruit taste? Lovely shrub and great pics you've made !

Hello saya Thanks for the kind comments
The fruit didn't have a strong flavour, just sweetish and not unpleasant.

I can highly recommend this shrub for full value of leaves, bark, flowers and fruit. It was slow to establish, but once comfortable it got underway very well as you can see
Good luck with yours saya :)
