Stout Blue-eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium angustifolium)

Stout Blue-eyed Grass
Sisyrinchium angustifolium

This is a japanese-bred S. bermudianum cultivar called "Blue". May sound ridiculously simple to English-speaking gardeners, but here in Tokyo it seems to work - my local florist sold all ten of his pots in two days - two to me... ;)

NIce photo, these blooms in reality are very small, isn't that correct? At least the sisyrinchium I have grown is a very tiny bloom.

Thanks Lenjo!

Actually, this cultivar's blooms are huge for a Sisy - close to an inch across. My S. atlanticum blooms are only about 1 cm, and S. bellum's are not much larger.
I'll try to get another photo showing the scale - if we ever have another sunny day in Tokyo before winter that is...

Yes, an inch is quite a bit larger than the one I have and not such a pretty blue as this either.
