Thanks, Hazel - yes, they're ours, we we planted two last year and they've grown quite a bit already.

Looking back, I think it was worth the price of admission to the Home/Garden show last year for these "free" saplings. I didn't know what to expect when they gave them to us (I wasn't familiar with the Nuttall Oak), but seeing the beautiful foliage this spring and doing some research, I think you're right ;o)

In our vicinity there are numerous subdivisions, schools and shopping centers with "oak" in their name because there are so many oak trees around here. But there were no oaks planted on our 1+ acre when we moved in, just a lot of trees I don't particularly care for (Bradford pears, some sickly purple-leaf Plums and failing apple trees.) We're moving through a slow-but-steady replacement plan to introduce new trees and as they begin to grow, remove the poorly-placed or diseased trees.
