Spotted Hawkweed 'Leopard' (Hieracium maculatum)

Pasco, WA

This is a noxious weed in North Idaho and you can be billed for pesticides if you do not take care of it. It is taking over entire fields of farm land and is the bain of farmers as it chokes out everything else and has no nutritious value to animals.

Northern California, CA

I don't know that much about the different Hieracium species, but I found that the state of Idaho lists H. pratense and H. aurantiacum as Designated Noxious Weeds:

H. aurantiacum is in the PDB:

Whether it is a good thing or not I don't know, but many nurseries here in the Bay Area have Hieracium maculatum 'Leopard.'
