I think it's time....
Coffee Kart 3-13-2006
I don't know if I would have like that grasshopper, he looks hungry...
He does look like he has been around for a while, doesn't he...LOL.
I like bugs.
I like them to, I also like frogs, toads, salamanders or saladmanners (my son Aaron calles them) I wish I had a camera when I cought one this past summer, oh and the snake that lives in our yard he is cool to. I like the bats we see at night, and all the birds.
My kids think its funny when I try to catch the snakes, I don't mind catching them with my hands but one time I picked a snake up and he poked my arm with his tail. It didn't hurt but it startled me.
1st - I would never be close enough to pick one up!!
2nd - I would have died of a heart attack if it poked me with anything
3rd - I would never be close enough to pick one up!!
4th - I would never be close enough to pick one up!!
Did I mention I would never pick one up??
Thanks Dena - glad you like them!!! Hey, how's the job??
Anita, the job is nuts, so I fit rite in!
Why are you so fearful of snakes?
I love them, so good for the garden!
I love bees to as long as they stay away from me, I have bad reactions to yellow jackets, and have to stab myself with a sharp thing if they get me, then as my breathing gets difficult, I have to remain calm and call 911, and try to tell them I can't breath due to bee sting, and thats not easy to do when you can't breath. I learned how valuable portable phones where to a gardener who is alergic to bees.
talk to you in the morning!
Good night Anita, good night Al, Good night Andy and Sarah, Good night Dave (not here) hope your having fun!
Morning - Dena, I have no idea why I am scared of snakes. I don't mind them in the garden as long as they stay away from me.
I think the sun went to Florida with Dave. I have also heard a rumor of snow for St Patty's Day. I'm in the office all day so I'll probably pop in and out during the day.
Good morning all,
Nice pics Andy.
No real snake fears here or bees.
I remember as a kid we wold chop up the glass snakes in pieces to watch all the pieces squirm around.
Anita, Nice collage. I particularly like the Dragonfly with the striped wings. Cool.
Is that Iris new this spring?
There are usually grass snakes that live under my front steps, they like to sun themselves on top of my hedges.
When I was very young I placed a big snake in the road and watched the cars run over it. I had the worst nightmares of my life for 2 nights after that.
Here is another bug.
Might as well show these now before the new crop comes in, LOL.
yes, the iris is new. I just took that pic this morning! I was so excited. I have a yellow one too, but that wasn't open yet. My Grecian Windflowers are popping up too.
Nice Pics Al - I've never seen the Great Lakes.
way cool, AL! I had brought in cuttings of my basil last fall. One morning, when I was checking on them - they were all gone except for one! I never notice the big, fat, green hitchhiker!!!
Good morning everyone!
Andy, you have good taste, I liked Anitas striped wing dragonfly to.
Such nice pictures you guys!
Oh, Anita, I would have laughed if I had picked a punch of flowers and only one was left the next day...did you get to see the hitchhiker on the last stem of the basil?
Al, I like your light house shot. That is so pretty!
I don't recall ever seeing a monarch cat. Maybe I haven't looked close enough. I do have butterfly weed. I'll look closer this season.
this was early in the summer - like May or so. I was under the impression that these eggs were from the previous year that hatched.
off your link;
we went thru the butterfly house at Mosquito Hill nature center a few years ago, it was cool.
hey you getting snow there or what? Our March thaw is over - just snowbanks left now and COLD.
no snow, although there is a rumor of snow for Friday.
65 degrees right now in Brimfield, MA. The kids and I were just scoping the yard and I saw tulips, grape hyacinth, and crocus making there way out but I didn't notice the dafs yet. Boo hoo, I didn't hear about any snow, I hope not. I'm ready for spring now. The past few days have been a tease we've had the windows open each day. I even had the bedroom window open last night, because it felt good to feel the air on my face snuggled under a down comforter. Did I mention I'm ready for spring now? Guess so... sigh...
I've had the bedroom window open too. I love the fresh air when I am sleeping.
About time you stopped in for a cup. Anita's not that bad!
Who mentioned snakes?
It's nice and warm here this afternoon.
I was stepping out with all the car washing stuff and what did I see sunning on the Yew.
You guessed it, the first snake of the year.
I just mentioned this a few hours before and here he/she is.
I ran in to get the camera. Snapped a few pics then washed the car and walked the dog.
My first snake pics ever. It was very cooperative, too.
ANITA, DON'T LOOK.... Although it is smiling, LOL.
Andy, VERY COOL!
who rocks more than you do!
Your snake friend is cold blooded so there is your reason for him/her being so cooperative, they are going to be a bit lathargic till they get warm enogh to evade us quickly.
I love them! I think yours is saying CHEESE!
UGGHHHH!!!!! I got goosebumps just looking at it!!!
Here are a few links from fellow DG'ers that I liked alot...
That should keep you buggy for awhile.... :)
GREN, they let me touch them in the Summer.
I waited and waited for the tung to show itself but it was too fast for me. It was very pink.
