Hi, we are now leaving on next wed. or thursday and I was hoping that any of you have experience with vacationing in the mntns. , Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge areas could share ideas, tips, etc. We are traveling with our two small ones: 5.5 y.o and 2 y.o. Thanks for any suggestions! Oh also good restaurants that are good and kid o.k! :)
thanks so much and everyone have a great weekend!
p.s. We have already booked at the River Terrace Resort,, gosh, seems all the hotels in Gatlinburg get wide range of reviews,,, some reviews terrible, some great. This one ended up with 3 stars out of 5?

Be sure to take the drive through Cades Cove and get out a lot to walk around. It is free and you will never see anything better even if you have to pay. There is a booklet you can get for a dollar donation at the start of the drive. The loop is 11 miles and the book tells you what you are seeing. It makes a great souviner. (sp?)

There is also the Roaring Fork Motor Nature trail. It begins in Gatlinburg and there are lots of signs. It also has a book to guide you and there is a lot to get out and see. Great opportunities for pictures, too.

The ride through Wears Valley is very nice.

The aquarium in Gatlinburg is very good but a bit pricey if you are on a strict budget.

We loved the Dixie Stampede. The food is good and so is the show. Moves fast so the kids should like it. Call for reservations.

The Old Mill restaurant has great food too. It is in Pigeon Forge.

Can you tell that area is my favorite in the world to visit? LOL Hope this helps you. Have a great time!

A trip to this area definitely has to have a stop at Bennett's barbecue in Pigeon Forge. The best bbq that you have ever had. We stay at James Court in Pigeon Forge. Run by a christian family, and very very nice. Hope you have fun.
