Texas Statewide Roundup April 28, 2007-TRADES

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

:) Kim

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Just a few things to begin with:

1. I have a lot of these scut's--a bit "smallish" right now--but I'm potting them up bigger and will shoot them with foliar feed.

3. Some, but not sure of how many (its dark):

4. I have these:

5. I have some of these:

6. I have some of these:

7. I always have too many Zeph candida

8. I have more Herbertia lahue seeds than I know what to do with.

Well that's probably enough to start with tonight.

Just got two of those cheap mini-greenhouses! I'd like to have a regular greenhouse, but at least these will help...such a bad winter this year. I'm starting some seeds. Nothing makes you think about spring like little seedlings!

Oh, Maggie. You're back! Are you going to the RU? That's great!

I have lots of wants and from the looks of things nothing to give. Maybe a couple of weeks will make a difference - we'lll have to see. Don't want anything in particular so for now I'm just wishing.

Well bless the Gods I will have something of interest to bring this time.

I have:
3 Blue Agaves from the mother plant
1 maybe 2 Pink trumpet vine-s

If anyone wants one of the following, let me know:
Native White Passion Vine
Pink Hardy Hydrangea

And as all have...too much Aloe Vera !!!!

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I'd be interested in an agave.

This might sound really dumb, but something I really would like to have is coffee grounds. There is no Starbucks here and the one in Kerrville gives all their grounds to one person. Rather snobbish I thought, but that's what they told me. I don't drink coffee any more and I hate to ask my neighbors to save theirs for me. If there's anybody coming who wants something I am bringing, I would be thrilled to get coffee grounds in return.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Mary Lee....we make coffee several times a day at our lab. If you tell me how to save them, I'll gladly do so for you. I just didn't know if I needed to dry them out or something, I would think they'd get stinky after a while?

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes they probably would. I'm guessing you need to put them in a clay pot to dry and then into a bucket or something. They would get moldy and stinky for sure. That would be a huge help for me Kim. Thanks very much.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

No problem! I'll start tomorrow. Oh, and I was wanting to ask you if I could get a bulb or two of that hardy amaryllis?

Yes, you can. They are in a pot already and coming up. I'll put your name on it.:)

I've found that our grounds, put in an uncovered pot or container (where they won't be rained on) will dry out pretty quickly. Only if put wet into a closed bag and kept that way would there be a problem, I believe. I did run into one Starbucks that let an employee have all the grounds he wanted to take home, but it doesn't usually happen that way.

Maybe Kim could put the coffee grounds in a large baggie in the freezer and just keep adding new grounds to the baggie until it is full? That would keep them from getting stinky, anyway..

I have a Starbuck's nearby and all of them have an area that they put grounds in about 4 or 5lb bags for customer's gardens. They have a special bag especially made for them, and place them in a bucket with a sign. You won't always find them because they are popular. But several times, they said if I waited, they would bag some for me. I am not sure if they were dry or damp, but I just pop them in the freezer until I am ready to toss them out.
