Journal Feb. 4, 2001

Congrats, Lisa! Enjoy the moment!

Been reading a book called "Farm" about "A Year in the Life of an American Farmer". The names/locals have been changed to protect people's privacy, but the events and such are supposed to be true. By Richard Rhodes. Very eye-opening. Like the people on this forum, lots of guts and faith and big hearts.

Tomorrow I start an on-line class at barns and noble's on writing children's books. I'll probably never write a children's book, but the class sounded fun.

Cleared out the last of the fall leaves from the side yard today, and did some weeding. CA poppy seedlings are up. The ones that over-wintered should be setting buds soon. Anticipation! They usually bloom about the same time as the irises, and the combination of blue and orange is beautiful!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Hi Karla,
So glad someone posted a journal for today! Your book class sounds really interesting. One of my favorite reference books is the Writer's Handbook and I say I'm going to write something Actually I did write some things and I've thought about a book for children. My idea is more on the line of animals :) I believe that everyone has the potential to write good things and the best way to start is to just write! A friend of mine wrote plays and theater pieces. I remember him saying in our college days that a writer begins a journey with an idea in his heart. He was a bit of a romantic, Anyway, I wish you well and a never-empty ink bottle :)
