Aphids just getting started on Collards

Christiansted, VI(Zone 11)

Aphids just getting started on Collards. The leaves are about three inches long, and I just picked one to munch, and noticed several little groups of, UGH! aphids.

I am tempted to Malathion them. Aphids are the worst to get rid of!!!

Any suggestions?

Aphids are impervious to many insecticides. They are soft bodied, so Safers insecticidal Soap should work if you don't want to use Malathion.

Who wants to eat them after you used malathion?? yucky..... Just test the soap on a small area in case it may burn and don't spray it in the heat of the day.

Thank you.

The leaves are still tiny, two inches or so.

I'll go find some of that soap!

Yes, Safer's Soap will work and won't burn the plants either, if mixed according to directions. However, with plants that small I'd just spray them with a hard spray of water and wash them off. In other words, save some money and also get them boogers off of there asap.

Best to you and your garden, Molomola. (I luvs dem collard greens!)
