wide feet hard to find shoes.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

My feet went to a wide after having my son 5 years ago. I had to get rid of over 100 pairs of shoes(nearly broke my heart). I am having the worst trouble finding wide shoes that are stylish but yet inexpensive. Another problem is most companies start their wides at a 7 and I wear a 6 1/2.
Anyone else have this dilemma?

I see wide shoes often. I sometimes get the wide. Nordies has wide and check out Zappo's on line. I have shopped Zappo's and been satisfied.

Do you find Zappos prices are a little high?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

no. But what I have purchased were high end shoes; one for my dd while she was waiting tables in college. that exp;clog? can not remember the name. It was maybe $10 cheaper @ Zappos. And then another time some sandals that were a bit less then macy's. They have from a-z so the selection is huge. And the shippping free.

And their customer service is excellent. Also check out Nordstrom.

My girlfriend has this problem and we found these stores had a good selection even after you weed out the unattractive shoes:) It is easy to shop @ Nordstrom.com because of the search feature.

Naturalizer, Easy Spirit have nicer styles these days

I also check online for coupons before I buy anywhere.

bluekat-that you so much that helps tremendously!!!
I really don't know why they correlate wide feet with dumpy/frumpy, some of those shoes are just UGLY!!!

Ijamsville, MD(Zone 6b)

You are too right about that! That said I do get to wear Crocs to work....but the Crocs flip flops are not ugly!

You are welcome!

I like the Croc style called Capri.

i wear size 5 wide, i always find them @ Walmart. i like Dr, Schroll's shoes or flip flops, style may not appeal to u, but they sure are feet friendly. i have yet to find a Dr. Schroll shoe user whose feet has not been satisfied.

good luck,
ma vie

You can probably wear flip flops year round where you are. I haven't worn flip flops in years, I hate anything between my toes. I end up wearing Adidas soccer sandals around the yard during the summer.
Payless has wide sizes in a variety of shoes but a lot of it isn't leather. I hate it when my feet sweat.

Oh, I love Zappos! I was a 9W and transmorgified to a 9WW after having two kids.
Customer service from Zappos has always been superb and I love the free returns.
They are a bit high priced if you're used to chain store shoes, but it's super difficult to find good-looking wide shoes, as you've pointed out. To me, it's worth paying a bit more if it ensures a better selection.

I also went from a wide to a doublewide (yep, like a mobile home, LOL). Lane Bryant has them, too: http://www.lanebryantcatalog.com/pagebuilder/category_landing_page?cat=footwear&pageid=1704&cgid1=2097
