A Game That Helps Others

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Many of us feel that when we are tired and need to "sit a spell" we
should still keep our hands busy with productive work. Playing a game
such as computer solitaire doesn't fit that description, even though
it's fun. Here's a challenging mental exercise that expands a person's
vocabulary and helps the needy in the process. Sound improbable? I
thought so too and checked with Snopes to find it is true.

The game is known as "Free Rice" and can be found here -
http://www.freerice.com/index.php - it is the advertisers whose banners
run at the bottom of the game pages who fund the charity. I admit to
being something of a vocabulary nut - fascinated with the wonderful
complexity and versatility of our language - and to me this is great
fun and worthwhile as well.

To find out a bit about the individual who initiated the idea, you can
see the the Snopes report:

Try it! Yuska
