zebra grass

Perry, MO(Zone 5a)

I am looking for a good online supplier of zebra grass, Miscanthus sinensis `Strictus'. Also, I live in zone 5. Can I plant zebra grass this fall, or should I wait to purchase it in the spring? Thanks for your advice.

I believe 'stricta' is actually porcupine grass. 'zebrinus' goes by zebra grass. Both are green with yellow stripes, but zebra grass gets taller. I would recommend spring planting as growth really takes off over the spring and summer. Once the cool temps hit they turn beige and only offer form/silhouette. There is also a new forum for grasses and bamboos. Did you try posting there? A few years ago, I got starts in trades. Good luck.

Thanks for the information. I will post in the grasses forum, and it looks like I will sprint plant. Thank you for your quick response.

Delores, do you live near a Lowes? This weekend I bought Zebra grass there ($6.00). I love it, so healthy looking. I am going to plant mine. I think it will be fine.
I also purchased Northern Sea Oat grass. Sooo pretty!
