I need help

Lansing, MI(Zone 5a)

Hello, I am new to this site. I am from mid Michigan and I would like to get ideas for my front porch area garden. It faces the east and only gets sun from around 11am to 1pm. It also gets about a hour in the early morning. I never know what to put so I end up putting in impatiens. I would like to have tall plants in the back and more in the front. I would love to get ideas that anyone has. I don't have much experience, but I keep trying. Thank you!

If you want plants then you will need shade loving like hosta. If you want flowers you could not beat im[patients. Your up north Hosta grow real well up there. You might go to the hosta forum and talk to those people. with hosta you have many sizes colorations and planting things they can help you with.

You might try morning glories in there you could put string up for them to climb

Also head over to the design forum. Someone will have good ideas.

The nursery here said we could grow azaleas on the east side of our house. We have a japanese maple on our east side and it's doing well. Look for partial shade or partial sun plants. They should do well there also.
