Horned Grebe, Slavonian Grebe (Podiceps auritus)
I believe this is a picture of a Clark's Grebe (Aechmophorus clarkii). Note the long yellow bill.
I'm glad to see the photo has been removed from the Horned Grebes. I had debated between Clark's & Western, I have never seen either one myself.

I don't see a long yellow bill. I just enlarged the original shot and it's gray. just like the other images here.
Sorry, it's late, I keep hitting send as it's in the same location as the image browse button in most posts, guess Bird Files doesn't have that feature.
I can d-mail you a close up shot of the head and beak but it's definitely not yellow.
Western Grebe, non-breeding - the feathering around the eyes is blackish, and the bill dull yellow
