I bought this plant at a local nursery. They did not know what it is, they said it came in with their other ferns. It is very "feathery" with burgundy tips and bottom.

Thanks sooo much, you are right. Selaginella erythropus 'Sanguinea'.
Reddish colour salaginella has been showing up here in Ontario as a very pricey potted 'exotic' fern. I've seen 3 inch pots priced at over fifteen dollars, for the reddish coloured ones. The plain green or white frosted salaginellas are much cheaper. True ferns are much less expensive, even some of the rarer ones.
So, is it a moss or a fern? I have one too; found it at a local greenhouse sitting in a corner....never seen it before so of course I had to have it. I paid $7 for it. I'm in Florida, zone 10a with a shade tropical garden...should I grow it as a fern, or as a moss?
It's a clubmoss - a group of their own. For cultivation, more like a fern than a moss, though. But it has its own special preferences too.
