Swedish Black-eyes

2 (15 oz) cans black-eyed peas
1/4 c. margarine
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/3 c. brown sugar, packed
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vinegar
2 tsps. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 c. toasted almond slices

Drain peas, saving 1 cup of liquid. Melt margarine in medium skillet. Add onion and saute until tender, crisp. Mix brown sugar, cornstarch, salt and reserved liquid. Cook stirring until mixture comes to a boil and slightly thickened. Stir in peas, vinegar, Worcestershire, and almonds, heat thoroughly and serve.
