Taken on 11th July 2007. They are predators of smaller flies that visit dung, the females lay their eggs in the dung.
This could be a female as they are a less bright yellow than the males, but it was in the shade.
Here with its prey, it took off with prey and all when noticing my presence, so must be strong..

This is the female, its abdomen and legs are different from the male being greyish, 2nd October 2008, Nature Reserve, Bourgoyen Gent, Belgium
Taken on 15th July 2008, Lincoln UK. The male has the hairy abdomen.
