Monty and Rose, a pair of Piping Plovers identified by colored leg bands, are citywide celebrities in Chicago for successfully fledging chicks two years in a row on the beachfront. They shut down a rock concert their first season.
I think you can get information on their own website - check Chicago piping plovers on a search engine.

An endangered specie, miles of public beach are closed each year during the breeding season of the piping plover. Birders from all over come for the chance to see these birds on the nest, and are dissapointed when told they must stay at LEAST 400 yards away from the nesting grounds. Bring your binoculars as disturbing this bird during nesting season will get you a hefty fine, and some choice words from the locals.
