Males of Podocarpus species are among the most allergenic of plants and release massive quantities of pollen. The pollen is also cytotoxic, and can give the symptoms of chemotherapy to the susceptible.

Females are not a problem. So make sure you know the sex of the plants you purchase.

Its blue foliage is really outstanding, esp. in early Spring, when new foliage emerges. Later on it changes to a dark green. I have two planted in full sun, and it requires slightly more water than the one that gets about 5-6 hrs sun. Moderate grower.
