Okay, I've only had her for 3 weeks, but I love her. She was 5-feet high and full, with buds. The buds have all turned into fantastic leaves. She is under shade cloth on my deck (since I live in Austin where summers get blistery) but I may want to put her someplace where she gets more sun for pinker spring color, at least until summer. The leaves are so light and airy with deep medium green veining. I gently hug this tree - ahem - she makes me so happy.

Another spectacular Japanese Maple, closely related to 'Aka shigitatsu sawa'. The leaves are deeply divided and serrated. The background leaf colour is light pink with dark green veins. This cultivar also produces a good display or red flowers in spring. Fall colour is also good with the pink portions turning orange-red. 'Ariadne' forms a bushy shrub to 3 m. It belongs to the Matsumurae Group.
