Japanese maple 'Sango Kaku' (fall color)

This picture was taken March 3rd. It is a tree that I have looked at every day for the last 14 years as I go to work. About 6 years ago the new owners pruned it by quite a bit and styled it into the pom pom look. The winter coloration is vivid pink red!

This is the real winter color. I love the bare branches in a floral arrangement.

This picture was taken on April 2nd in No. Ca., zone 9B, 14 It is about 40% leafed out. The leaves are a chartreuse color that looks incredible next to the vivid pink branches.

Fall color

The colder it gets the darker red the bark gets.

'Sango-Kaku' seeds form over the leaves. Photo taken about 6 weeks after leaves emerge in spring.

Coral Bark, last fall foliage and seeds in early November, zone 7b. Bark coloring in from tips down, this branch not yet red.

Fall foliage Nov in zone 7b and an odd set of red leaves among the normal yellow. Possible reversion of color on this branch.
