Here is a unique lanscaping idea as seen on the roof of the Getty Museum, Los Angeles. The blue plant is Sedum ticoides and Agave americana variegata in the far background.

This cactus can also sucker profusely.

This group is growing along the walk in the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, AZ, 2002.

This is a tighter shot of the barrel cactus growing along the walk of the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. These cactus always impress me! I've had one here in dreary Illinois for about three years and it's all of about 2 inches in diameter!

Unlike many plants, golden barrels get more and more beautiful as they grow.

Golden barrels can do well in a pot like this one. It grew 6" in 8 years. This one is 15" across.
