Chimonanthus praecox flowering in my garden in London, UK; January 2006
This is the Wintersweet Shrub in full bloom. Spring, 2007
This is a close up of the blooms. They are only about 1/2" in size.
A close-up of the branches and the leaves.
This shows the developing seed pods along the branches.
Ripe, shriveled seed pods with seeds removed. Pods have 1-3 seeds each, about the size of a Sunflower seed.
I took this photo on Sunday January 27,2008 in San Jose CA at my nephew's house.
Flowering.... the right side of winter
Wintersweet Shrub in full bloom--early March, 2010. Bloom was delayed by our very severe, snow all up and down the East Coast.
A macro-close-up of an opened bloom and some buds. The fragrance of these blooms is hard to describe! Softly sweet and intoxicating seems the way to describe it.
