Cleome 'Spider flower' - delicate shades of pink captured in a garden in March, New Zealand
Another of my favorite flowers!!
Cleome Pods & seeds - These pods are quite dry. They won't be this brown when you harvest them. Some may even still be green.
Giant Cleome (spiderflower) from seed 2001.
It has two different colors of peddles on it. Pink and very light pink, almost white.
I love this plant I got from an Omish farm nearby. It really took off. I wasn\\\'t sure what I was getting, but recognised the name from some magazine articles. The branches seem to break off easily and I have had to stake it from the wind.
This is a close-up shot of the blossom at night in Spencer, West Virginia. They are very hardy here and reseed easily.
Cleome - called Bee Blossom in this area (Roane County, WV). Tall self-seeding annual that is a striking addition to the garden. Attracts Hummingbird Moths, a rare moth (lepidoptera) that feed on nectar. These moths are very good pollenators.
This is an unusual flower. Looks like a Daddy Longlegs dressed for Easter. (Or would that be Mommy?)
Grows good here and reseeds profusely.
Cleome Hasseleriana at Fort Worth Botanical Gardens.
Cleome hassleriana seedling
These flowers ask so little of us!!!
I'd never seen Cleome before seeing them in this field in France in Sept, 2007. I've been wanting to grow some ever since.
