I love the bright orange of these flowers, and so do the butterflies!

The brightness of this red cannot be described! It is like a fluorescent one.

Mexican Sunflower

My tithonias have been loaded with butterflies all summer.

Yvana gave me this plant. Her aunt sent her some seeds from Paris.

Tithonia and amaranth, 07/27/2008

Seed heads were dried on the plant. Front two still have the seed inside. Seed heads are stiff and will hurt your fingers. Seed shown is from 2 seed heads and has been separated from chaff.

Seedlings

Fast grower and as Anita said, good for the back of the border. It passed 6' here.

Very attractive to bees.

I bought a packet of seeds wanting to grow bright red flowers I had grown earlier, but this turned out yellow!!

Showing the difference of the leaves on an older Tithonia rotundifolia opposed to the large crinkly leaves when young.

Amazing color, excellent 4 - 6' backdrop for veggie garden beneficial insects
