Dianthus brings such cheerfulness to the late Spring garden here in Zone 5b. If you sheer these after first bloom fades you'll get repeat bloom but not of this magnitude.

Cheddar Pink 'Firewitch' (Dianthus gratianopolitanus) clove scented flowers are a magenta-pink. It has been named the "Perennial Plant of the Year for 2006" by the Perennial Plant Association.

Firewitch Dianthus planted at the front of a border with dwarf asters behind. These fragrance the entire front yard on sunny April days, delicious carnation/spice.

Late April in zone 6b. Love the blue foliage with the bright blooms. They smell great, too!
