Saw this last week just driving around in the Valley, So Cal

This Dwarf Poinciana grows in our neighbors\\\' yard here in Austin, TX. Serendipity provided the butterfly.

This is a plant that likes it hot - July 2005

Here is a plant just starting to flower, growing in Central Florida

The only drawback to the bush is that is dies back during the winter.

Caesalpina seedlings.

Seed pods at different stages of development in October. The seed pods twist as they dry, break at the seams and explode with a very loud pop dispersing the seeds. (San Antonio, Tx.)




This Caesalpinia is growing in a container.

so far as I know, this is the only Caesalpinia with spiny branches... not super sharp spines... sort of like stiff hairs... and old branches lose them

Flowers all summer and fall. Cut off the seeds and it will keep flowering.
