This a close up of the buds on my purple passion. Pretty amazing...
This plant has been going crazy lately, one of the arms is over 6 feet tall!
I got a slip of this beauty from my girl friend a year ago and it is doing great, now the flowers are popping up all over. Really enjoying the plant.
I started this purple passion from a clipping from a friend. It didn\\\'t do very well till I put it outside on my balcony where it gets a lot of indirect light. It has buds on it which I have NEVER seen before on a purple passion. Can\\\'t wait till it blooms!!
Right after this plant finished blooming, it made seeds. They were in a small tuft of flossy hairs with seeds on them, looking a LOT like dandelion seed head, but not completely round like a dandelion. I haven't sown them yet to see if they'll germinate.
Dried flower heads gone to seed at the top. I pulled one apart ~ look at the ends of the white threads in the foreground and you'll see the tiny seeds.
This is my purple passion vine growing outside and flowering in a 24 inch pot.
I grow this as a house plant. It grows beautifully and is very happy.
Third set of buds since repotting this 6 year-old plant, photo taken 9-23-04
New buds-lower right, new bloom-upper right, opened bloom-lower left and fading bloom going to seed.
I think next time I'll pinch the flowers and let it concentrate on foliage.
The seed heads are made of fluffy white seeds.
This is my Purple Velvet plant, growing tall... It's now over 3 ft tall!
Habit of this plant in bloom.
Flower going to seed
This is my pride and joy.
I put my velvet plant in a small home made terrarium made from an exterior light fixture. The purple hairs look great up close under a bright grow light.

Purple Velvet leaves producing baby plants!! I think the trick is to use small, young leaves to get this to work.
