stages of bloom
closeup shot of the white bloom
Blooming in mid April 2006 in Northeastern Oklahoma
These open a little pink at first. And smell wonderful!
Multiflora Rose in the process of killing a beautiful native tree, Sassafras albidum. No one planted this rose here, it is a weed.
This Multiflora Rose is about 20 feet high, choking everything in its path.
Not bad for a "noxious weed". And the smell is wonderful!
With this many chances to produce seed and new plants, it's no wonder some people consider this a weed!
Needs a lot of space. Good for bees and fall color against rough-stemmed aster and euyonomous
Winter appearance in mid-January 2014 in se PA before I cut the weed down
