Macleaya Species, Bocconia, Five-Seeded Plume-Poppy, Plume Poppy (Macleaya cordata)

This plant is in its second year.

The Plume Poppy are to the left in the photo..the fence is 6 ft. high and these grow taller than the fence. If it wanders too far the new offshoots are easy to pull out when they are young..

Flower detail

The foliage of Macleaya cordata is quite unique. Well worth pressing between the pages of a book. 2007

I love the way the blooms glow against the late afternoon sun.

The backside of a Macleaya cordata leaf. Note the veins, which are very prominent.
