Sour Gum, Blackgum, Tupelo, Pepperidge (Nyssa sylvatica)


"Tupelo" comes from the American Indian words for "swamp trees" and "Nyssa" is a water nymph in greek legend.

My granddaughter's name is Nyssa, found this tree in our woods.
