The blooms on this Asystasia gangetica are an unusual greenish-yellow and they have a very deep throat. This bee is preparing to make a quick excursion into the bloom. Its whole body will be inside of the bloom with only its rump and back legs visible. (San Antonio, Tx.)
The Asystasia gangetica shown here is a subshrub. Although the photo is not that clear, I wanted to provide a view of its size, shape and the size of the blooms. There were many unopened blooms when this was taken. Bees and hummingbirds visit this plant in droves. (San Antonio, Tx.)

These Chinese Violet (Asystasia gangetica) were peeking from between oleander bushes in Maui. The lower one has lots of pollen and is beginning to fade.

I just got this and got an id for it on the Plant ID forum
A friend gave this to me 2-3 years ago and it is doing absolutely fine. Gave some support and it grew 7 ft. high.
