Calliandra, Pompon, Powder-Puff Tree, Red Powderpuff 'Nana' (Calliandra haematocephala)

Seed pod comes after the flower is well gone. Mine never has very many. This pod had 3 seeds inside.

An attention grabber. Blooms last a long time on the plant but die if picked. Bloom in February in zone 9b.

A tireless bloomer. Mine is 5' tall by about 6' wide.

Closeup of the flower.

Puffy blooms really stand out in the garden Winter Springs, FL, April 2012 - zone 9b

Plant in mostly shade, four years old, about four foot tall. The very top of photos shows leaves of the large powder puff behind the dwarf, you can notice the difference in the leaf shape. zone 9b FL

This is the same plant I've previously posted a photo of in 2011. This was taken 10/2014, it is now about six foot tall.
