These are the blooms getting ready to break open. This happens around the first of May in the Upper/Middle south
Fruit is green when young and not very tasty.
The persimmon has a discinctive bark pattern. Very decorative and showy.
The flowers are small and bell shaped. They are white in color and grow en masse on the trees.
The fruit turns yellow to red-orange when ripe.
This is the fruit of the persimmon tree picked in November at the edge of a cypress swamp near Florence, South Carolina.

My 13 y o Male Persimmon, 10" dbh, grew extremely fast so it has not developed the alligator bark yet.
