Papaya (Carica papaya) first leaves are shaped like this.

As the Papaya (Carica papaya) plant ages, the leaves have deeper notches. Compare the leaf in the foreground to the leaves in the background.

The Papaya (Carica papaya) stem retains prominent leaf scars and has purple blotching which adds interest to the appearance of the plant.
